Notes Regarding This Web Site
For the sake of posterity I think it important to make some attempt to acknowledge the folks who have contributed to this site in various ways.
Unfortunately, little in the way of a historical record is available, so I have very little idea as to who originally created the co-op web site or when that was.
During the last site overhaul, I found a document crediting a Leah Robshaw with updating the site on September 26, 1998. That is as far back as the digital record goes.
I would like to credit Jody Burr with most of the illustrations found on the site. These images are renderings of drawings found in The Clear Creek Food Co-op Handbook. My copy was published september 25, 1993. It seems important to me to maintain some ties to our co-op past, and these illustrations, though not your typical slick web graphics, nonetheless lend this site a little personality. So whoever, and wherever you are Jody Burr, thanks.
Mark Stosberg gets credit for making some significant changes to the site. Among other things, I think he is the one responsible for originally purchasing our domain name, and his web design and hosting business, Summersault, now hosts the site. Before that, this site was just a little tilde hanging onto the end of the Earlham domain. Mark also created and maintains the mailing list system.
So now we get to me. Most of the changes I made to the site are related to design. I employed the use of cascading style sheets in order to divorce the design from content (HTML) and did my best to make the site compliant with the World Wide Web Consortium's standards for CSS and XHTML. All of these measures will hopefully facilitate any future changes made to the web site. I also added more apparent features, like server-side include headers and footers that display accurate site update dates and a SSI navigation device on the side of the page.
Well there it is! This web site is much like the co-op itself: a collaborative and organic entity. So many people pass through the co-op, be they students, board members, managers, cooks, volunteers, or customers; it's mind-boggling the whole thing still exists and works! The key is certainly the goodwill and generosity of these transient souls. Thanks to everybody, and let the current webmaster (whoever that is) know if there is anybody we should credit here.
