1. Third Annual Spring Arts Festival: Friday May 27

Come one come all to the Spring Art Festival, Friday May 7th from 7-9ish pm!
Featured artists include both Earlham College students and local Richmond
residents.  No charge to mingle, but we will have lots of goodies for
purchase to eat and coffee and tea (organic/fair trade, of course)

We will also have some live music: Some come over to the Co-op and let your
heart be light!

If you are an artist or dabbler in art, come show you work.  Contact
Carrie at the Co-op


2. Summer Order Schedule

The next order will go in Thursday, June 2nd.

More info on summer ordering:
With the slow down of traffic through the Co-op during the summer hours,
we will also be altering our ordering schedule.  This is important
information for those members who regularly place bulk member orders.  We
will continue to order on Thursdays, but will not be available until
Tuesdays (rather than Mondays, as is the case during the rest of the
year).
We will be placing orders on the followng weeks (with dates of available
pick up in parentheses):

June 2 (June 7)
June 16 (June 21)
June 30 (July 5)
July 14 (July 19)
July 28 (Aug 2)
August 11 (August 16)
August 18 (August 22)
Regular ordering schedule resumes August 25


3. Summer Fun at the Co-op
The slow down of summer brings time to give the Co-op a face-lift!  There
are many ways you can be involved this summer in the Co-op.  Could you
support your Co-op in the following ways?

*Inventory Day? June 30th is the day for quarterly inventory.  It's a big
task for one person, but with many it's not only easier but loads of fun! 
There are always goodies provided and you will undoubtedly sharpen your
counting skills (could look good on a resume)!

*Carpentry Work?  We have some chairs and other projects that someone who
has fun with hammers, nails, and drills would find heavenly!

*Painting? Our outside tables need painting.  Someone to paint them or
donate paint to the cause could really make them looking spiffy!

*Committee Work?  Does the idea of working with others on a common goal
get your juices flowing?  There are two important committees currently
meeting that are exploring options for a possible Co-op expansion:
Location Committee and Economic Support Committee.  Folks who have an eye
for space or a know how for fund-raising could help the Co-op out
immensely on these projects?

*Gardening? The Co-op herb garden needs attention and tending.  Maybe
you'd like to get your hands in the dirt and play with the worms and the
herbs!

*General Volunteering? There are numerous miscellaneous projects that need
to be done at the Co-op: cleaning, recycling, stocking, etc.  One hour a
week makes all the difference!

*Other ideas?  We are always open for volunteers to express and give life
to their vision on how the Co-op might improve!

Come by the Co-op or give Carrie a call if you are interested in any of
these projects!

4. Recipe from the Co-op Kitchen: Caribbean Spice Popcorn

"All of the fiery taste of the islands is here, so proceed with caution. 
If fire isn't your style, neither is this popcorn!" From Vegetarian Times
Cookbook

2 t. vegetable seasoning
1 t. lemon zest
1 t. curry powder
1 t. salt (optional)
Pinch of cayenne pepper, or to taste
Nonstick cooking spray
8 cups popped popcorn

In a small bowl, combine the vegetable seasoning, lemon zest, curry
powder, salt and cayenne.

Spray a large serving bowl on all sides lightly with cooking spray.  Add 2
or 3 cups of hot popcorn, spray lightly and sprinkle evenly with a heaping
teaspoon of seasoning.  Add another layer of the popcorn and repeat...
