4. New Bulk Bins? WE HOPE SO!
Many of you know that there is a strong energy behind moving the Co-op
into new areas. There has been talk of expansion, talk of growth, talk
about our niche. Recent discussions have led us to explore a development
plan for the next three to five years. Most immediately, we are seeking
ways to more fully the develop the space we are currently in.

Our first goal is to purchase new, state-of-the art bulk bins to enhance
appearance and accessiblity, as well as quality and variety of our organic
bulk foods. These bins cost $9000, an extraordinary amount. The past few
years have shown an increasingly positive financial picture for the Co-op,
due to good management and support for the Co-op from people like you.
But this is still a considerable amount.

The Co-op has already put aside $4,000 for this project. We need to raise
$5,000 in the next two months to reach our goal and ensure continual
positive growth for the Co-op. We have already raised $900 (18% of our
goal!) How can you help?

ADOPT-A-BIN! Each bin costs approximately $100. If we have 50 people
adopt-a-bin at $100 we will meet our goal! There are many ways you (and
your family, your community, your place of worship, your workplace) can
contribute to adopting a bin, no matter what you feel you are able to
give! If you are able to help in the following ways, please respond to
this e-mail or contact the Co-op at 983-1547. Adopting a bin will help
pay for the cost of the bin AND we will put your name/your group's name on
one of the new bins!

If you are able to help, print out a pledge form and send it to the Co-op
(address below), e-mail us, or give us a call! We need everyone's
support!

Other upcoming fundraising events to watch for:
Benefit Dinner: date TBD
Second Annual Alternative Holiday Bazaar: Saturday, December 10
Silent Auction: in conjunction with Holiday Bazaar

THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT IN THE CLEAR CREEK COOPERATIVE,
giving an alternative food source to the Richmond community since 1972! --

4. Calling all Artists, Crafty People, Bakers, Creative Folk (and
striving!)

The Clear Creek Co-op will be hosting its Second Annual Alternative
Holiday Bazaar on
Saturday, December 10th at the Coop from noon-5pm. The bazaar provides a
space for local "artists" (from potters to bread bakers to knitters) to
sell their "wares", provide the community with an alternative means to
get some holiday shopping done, and help the Co-op raise money for our
development goals (think...BULK BINS!).

We are looking for people who are interested in selling items. How does
this work and who gets the money? YOU DO and the CO-OP DOES! You give us
the price you want from the item and the Co-op marks that price up 25% so
the Co-op gets something.

We are looking for a variety of items, no item too small! Baked food is
OK! Help us provide a real alternative this holiday season.

If you are interested in selling your items, or if you have questions,
contact Carrie at the Co-op!

5. Recipe of the Week: Sweet Potato Quesadillas
from the Clear Creek Co-op Cookbook (on sale for only $10!)

1 1/2 C finely chopped onions
2 garlic cloves
3 T vegetable oil
4 C grated sweet potatoe (2 large or 3 small potatoes)
1/2 t dried oregano
1 t chili powder
2 t. ground cumin
generous pinch of cayenne
salt to taste
ground black pepper to taste
1 C grated cheddar cheese
8 tortillas
salsa
sour cream

Saute the onions and garlic in teh begetable oil until translucent. Add
the grated sweet potatoes, oregano, chili powder, cumin, and cayenne and
cook, covered for about 10 minutes, stirring to prevent sticking. when
the sweet potato is tender, add slat and pepper to taste and remove the
filling from the heat. Spread 1/8 of the filling and 2 T of the cheese on
each torilla. Cook the filled tortillas on a heated skillet for 2-3
minutes on each side or until cheese melts. Serve with salsa and sour
cream.
