2. Member Meeting: Sunday October 29, 4pm-6pm
Friends, Members, Co-op Supporters . . . lend us you ears (and minds)!

The 2006 annual member meeting is coming up in just one week! We will be
meeting on Sunday afternoon (10/29) from 4:00 to 5:30 as is our custom,
and we would LOVE to see your smiling face and hear you passionate voice
as we review the past year and explore the near future.

In the past, our meetings have ranged from small group visioning to
discussions of plans for expansion. This meeting includes plans to
rethink Co-op policies in light of our mission to reach out to as much of
the Richmond community as we can. Since policies effect everyone, we hope
to get input from as many of our members and supporters as we can.

Of course, there will also be time to meet our new staff members, to learn
about the past year's successes and challenges, to reconnect with others
who support Clear Creek's mission and vision. And, what would a member
meeting be without tasty snacks?!! This time around, the snacks will be
provided by the Co-op's own Kristina Perry (the current kitchen manager).

No need to RSVP. Just show up and you will be welcomed with a smile! And
hey, why not bring a
friend?!

3. Mark Your Calendar for Saturday December 9th: THIRD ANNUAL HOLIDAY
ALTERNATIVE BAZAAR 10am-5pm

For three years now, the Co-op has held an bazaar that showcases local
artistry and crafts, as well as international gifts, holiday cards,
calendars, and more. Saturday December 9th will be a lively festive day
at the Co-op. As usual we will have items from Richmond/Earlhamites, fair
trade items from SERRV International, gifts from Syracuse Cultural Workers
AND new this year will be a selection of PUTUMAYO world music CDs!

WOULD YOU LIKE TO SELL ITEMS AT THE BAZAAR? We need your creative
"masterpieces"! Bring in knitting, jewlery, photography, pottery...tell
us what you would like to make off of it, and we simply add 25% to go

5. Recipe of the Week: Mexican Hot Chocolate
The mercury is dropping! Warm up with this lucious drink. Powdered mix,
move over!
from, Sundays at Moosewood Restaurant

2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
2 cups milk
1 cup heavy cream
6 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 egg (yes, an egg!)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Melt the chocolate in the top o fa double boiler. In a separate pot, heat
the milk and the cream on low heat until hot but not boiling. When the
milk is hot, slowly add a little bit of it to the chocolate until you have
a thin paste. Then stir in the rest of the milk and cream, the sugar, and
the cinnamon.

In a bowl beat the egg and the vanilla. Add a very little of the hot
chocolate to the egg (you don't want to "fry" the egg in the hot
chocolate) and then stir the egg mixture into the hot choclate. With the
double boiler still on low heat, beat the chocolate with a rotary beater
for about 3 minutes. Serve immediately
